Consumer Protection
Even though our
practice is not focused on consumer protection issues, we will generally
assist any of our clients who have been taken advantage of by unscrupulous
salesmen, brokers, or other charlatans, whether by direct representation
or referral to those agencies better equipped to help on a particular
matter. If you feel as though you have been taken advantage of in any of the following situations, please contact us immediately:
-
Someone is
trying to sell you something, and you believe it would be wise to
consult with an attorney before doing so. Please note, if you have
already entered into a contract for purchase and have now had second
thoughts, please contact an attorney immediately as your ability to
cancel purchase orders is subject to certain time limitations under
Florida and Federal law (generally 3 days) and primarily applies to home
solicitations sales. If in doubt and you are unable to reach an
attorney before you believe the three days has expired, send a letter
with your name and address (contract and order number if any) by
certified mail, return receipt requested to the vendor indicating that
you are canceling the order effective immediately. See an attorney as
soon thereafter as possible. The exceptions to this law are quite complex and
require a case by case analysis.
